Caroline is a school superhero!

Caroline is a school super hero!

We've been overwhelmed by families nominating their school superheroes. From teachers to administrative staff, we've been blown away by the response so far. Meet Caroline, who works at Trafalgar School as a HR officer. She is one of the many school superheroes who've been recognised by a parent in the city.

Over the next few weeks, Teach Portsmouth will be showcasing some of the fantastic nominations we have received in the hope of inspiring more people to thank a school superhero.

Rebecca nominated Caroline for supporting her child. We spoke to Rebecca to find out why she nominated Caroline and what it means to be recognised for her work.

Showing her appreciation

Rebecca nominated Caroline as she wanted to show her appreciation. During a difficult transition from primary to secondary school, Rebecca felt Caroline listened and gave her child support and kindness.

Even after Caroline changed roles within the school, she was always available for Rebecca's child to go to. Rebecca told us why she nominated Caroline and what difference she has made to her child's life.

I nominated Caroline because she made my child feel safe at school. She has gone above and beyond, and I wanted to show her the appreciation she deserves!

My child found the transition from primary to secondary difficult. Caroline was on the reception and my child was able to go to her. Even though Caroline works in a different part of the school, my child can still go to her if she is having a bad day and Caroline will walk her between classes and talk to her.

Made a huge difference

Caroline's actions in school have made a huge difference to how Rebecca's child responds in class. Her child feels more relaxed and calm.

We contacted Caroline and her colleagues to share the special thank you message Rebecca had submitted. Caroline was blown away by the unexpected gesture. She told us what it felt to receive those kind words.

I love my job and the students at Trafalgar School - so to get this recognition is a fantastic bonus! Building relationships with staff and students is so rewarding and I feel I have so much to offer to make their days at school a happy time, as it can be a hard time for some.
