Your guide to the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair 2024

Get ready to meet 24 different exhibitors at the event

The Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair 2024 is just weeks away. We've put together a handy guide that breaks down how to navigate the event. From finding the right presentation to deciding on who to speak to, our guide helps you find your way.

If you are unfamiliar with Portsmouth's largest event for jobs in education, don't worry. Portsmouth Guildhall will transform into a hive of activity on Monday 26 February from 10am - 2pm across three different rooms.

Climb the steps and enter through the bronze doors or take the elevator from the ground floor, the space opens out, with exhibitors, spread across two rooms.

This guide provides four steps you can take to help make your experience at the Teach Portsmouth Jobs and Opportunities Fair, the best one yet.

Step 1: Plan who you want to meet

With 24 different exhibitors, it can be overwhelming to decide on who you want to meet.

Think about what you want to gain from the event. Perhaps you want general information at this early stage or want to find a job as you are work ready. Take a look at the growing list of exhibitors as we have categorised each one to help you.

To further support you, a floor plan will be published on the Teach Portsmouth website and given to you on the day to help you navigate the space.

Step 2: Time your visit with presentations schedule

We hold a range of useful presentations throughout the day to support you into training or employment. These short presentations are delivered by local specialists in 20 minute slots.

Topics are accessible for everyone. At the end of each presentation, there is time to ask questions too.

We would recommend taking a look at the presentation schedule (on the event page). After you've chosen what you'd like to see, time your visit with a particular slot. Your event ticket also allows for multiple entries to the venue - so if there are different presentations, at different times, you can return later in the day.

Step 3: Stop by the jobs board to view vacancies

There are plenty of opportunities to start a career in education at the event. Whether that's volunteering in the classroom to build experience or applying for a vacancy straight away, the jobs board is the best place to visit, to view all opportunities in one go.

The board also features jobs from schools who promote their vacancies on the Portsmouth City Council website - so it's worth checking out.

You can also discover information on training courses, apprenticeships and taster sessions too.

Step 4: Sign up to taster sessions

If you want to gain experience working in a school or find out more about a particular employer, taster sessions are a great way to build connections before applying for a job.

Participating schools, colleges and organisations (see event page for more details) will hold specific sessions tailored for vacancy types. This could include taster sessions focusing on support or teaching jobs.

Attendees who have signed up to taster sessions have gone on to get jobs in schools. We would recommend speaking to each exhibitor to ensure taster sessions meet your needs and requirements.
