New webinar helps people find their route into teacher training
If you have aspirations to become a teacher, it can sometimes be a challenge to navigate your training options. To support those into the profession, Teach Portsmouth is hosting a new Love to Teach webinar on Wednesday 23 October 2024 (5pm - 5:45pm) on Zoom which is designed for those at the start of their teaching journey.
Portsmouth is a great city to train in with outstanding teacher training provision. This webinar aims to unpick the common questions including entry requirements, funding and routes in the profession. The webinar will introduce you to these themes and inspire you to take things further.
What will I learn?
The Teach Portsmouth webinar is designed to provide an overview of the different routes into teaching, whether you're just finishing your degree, looking for a career change, or have been working in schools and want to become a qualified teacher.
Here's what you can expect from the session:
- Insight into teacher training routes: There are many ways to qualify as a teacher, including university-led postgraduate courses (including PGCE) or school-centered initial teacher training (SCITT) programmes. This webinar will break down these routes to help you determine the best fit for your career goals.
- Meet early career teachers: The best inspiration is often from those who have experienced something first hand. Two early career teachers from both primary and secondary education will join us as they share their experiences from the classroom.
- Hear from local training providers: The University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Primary SCITT, The University of Chichester and Inspiring Future Teachers will present information on their courses and the schools they work with.
