In today's blog post we're continuing our new series introducing you to our valued sponsors who have made the Teach Portsmouth Awards 2022 possible. This week we hear from Natalie Sheppard, Director of Education at the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, about why they are sponsoring this year's unsung hero award.
Could you tell us about what you do and your connection to education?
I'm a Director of Education (DoE) at the Thinking Schools Academy Trust (TSAT) and work with seven schools in the city, to create an all-through journey of education in a thinking school. I also work with the Portsmouth Education Partnership, and in particular help to lead digital strategy.
I am from Portsmouth and passionate about providing equality of opportunity and helping our young people to become their best selves. What do the Teach Portsmouth Awards mean to you/organisation?
Here at TSAT, one of our values is 'we are one' and we want to show this solidarity through recognising school staff and celebrating their commitment and success.
What are you looking forward to from the awards ceremony?
I'm excited to listen to the stories of all the fantastic work that teachers, support staff, and school communities have done across Portsmouth. Schools have worked unbelievably hard over these last 12 months to help children return to school, and it really hasn't been easy.
What special message do you have for Portsmouth's teachers, support teams and leaders?
This year has again truly tested our communities, and I could list many names that have gone above and beyond expectations to serve young people and their families.
Your ambition and passion continue to inspire young minds to be the best they can be.
