Career progression explained in Teach Portsmouth webinar
Teaching provides a rewarding career for those who want to make a difference. If you have aspirations to move into a more senior role, our latest webinar on: career progression provides top tips for those wishing to step up.
22 people joined us on Wednesday 26 May to learn about progression opportunities, specific to early years and secondary education. Two Portsmouth-based teachers shared their own experiences moving up through their school, inspiring those interested in doing the same.
Hosted by Debbie Anderson, head of school improvement and early years at Portsmouth City Council, two teachers Lloyd O'Neil and Jemma Clarke discussed their experience moving up through teacher training into senior roles. While no route into the profession is ever the same, attendees benefitted from the hosts own experience of working in senior leadership.
Webinar host, Debbie Anderson, spoke about the importance of career progression, even if you are at the start of your journey:
"The webinar was a fantastic opportunity to discuss various routes into progression. While the journey towards senior leadership is both exciting and rewarding, the overriding point from the session is that many teachers will remain teaching and that's absolutely fine.

"Not everyone will progress but may decide to take on more responsibilities including mentoring or becoming a subject specialist. It is clear that there are different ways to progress which the webinar focused on."

The webinar series has been attended by almost 100 people interested in learning more about the profession. Previous webinars have included information on routes into teaching as well as changing career to teaching.
