If you are looking for a more rewarding career or want to understand your options when it comes to teacher training, attend Love to Teach: Routes into Training on Wednesday 15 October from 5pm - 6pm.
Meet training providers as they present university and school-based routes. Early career teachers will share their journey into the profession and discuss the challenges and rewards based on their experiences.
The webinar is designed for those at the start of their teacher training journey, acting as a first step as you explore what routes are available in Portsmouth.
Meet our host

James Doherty, principal at UTC Portsmouth
James has been a part of UTC Portsmouth since before it opened its doors. Having studied biomedical sciences, he has carried his passion for science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) forwards through to the establishment and running of UTC Portsmouth.
James is an experienced leader with more than 10 years’ experience of coordinating and delivering physics, chemistry and biology courses in local schools.
As an educator his interests are in educational innovation at all ages and lectures both locally and regionally on this subject matter.

Teach Portsmouth is here to support your journey into the profession. If this is your first time exploring your options, it can be daunting to navigate your way through.
The webinar will begin with information on funding, entry requirements and top tips to get you started.
This will help you understand your options and set goals to get where you want to be.

Meet local training providers
Participating training providers in Portsmouth will present their university and school-based routes to help you understand the differences between the two.
They will showcase what makes their offer unique and provide information on the support available for trainee teachers.

Be inspired by early career teachers
Each training provider will introduce an early career teacher from their course to share their experience with attendees.
They will discuss the rewards and challenges of working in the classroom and provide useful insights to help you on your journey.

Ask questions using live chat
Training providers and early career teachers will rejoin the session for a live question and answer session at the end of the webinar.
Attendees will be able to use the live chat function to write their questions which will be put forward to the host. If we're unable to answer everyone's questions by the end of the session, we will update the website with responses from our training providers.

The webinar is held on Zoom video conferencing and can be accessed through your browser. For the best experience, we do recommend downloading the application on your device.
To sign up to the webinar, please click on the register here button. This button will take you through to Zoom to sign up on this registration page. You will have the option to opt-in to receive more information from Teach Portsmouth about training. You will also be able to opt-in for your information to be shared with the training providers to follow up with you directly.

Some training providers may be based outside the city but work with schools inside Portsmouth as part of your training.
The webinar showcases the University of Portsmouth, University of Chichester, TCAT and Inspiring Future Teachers HISP Teacher Training. For a full list of training providers, please visit the training section of the website.
The webinar will focus on providers who offer school-based routes and university-based routes into teaching. A second webinar on teacher degree apprenticeships will provide information on this newer route and invite two providers to attend to talk about this in more detail.
