Teaching is a rewarding career with great benefits, including a competitive salary and opportunities for career progression. We asked several Portsmouth teachers what the best thing about the profession is and what you can expect from it. 

After the successful launch of the news hubs in June, we're pleased to introduce the all-new Teach Portsmouth newsletter. A monthly communication packed full of inspirational stories, interviews and information from Portsmouth's teaching heroes.

Since July, we've been asking families in Portsmouth to share their words of thanks for the city's teachers, support teams and senior leaders who have supported them throughout the pandemic. We've chosen some of our favourites to share with you.

In June, UCAS revealed a 12% increase in teacher training applications nationally. As applications for teaching training begin to close, we take a look at three newly qualified teachers in the city who have been an inspiration to their communities. 

As the summer holidays officially begin, Portsmouth's school pupils and their families are being invited to say thanks to the teachers and school staff who have supported them throughout lockdown.

Teachers don't stop learning when they qualify - there are opportunities for teachers to continue their professional development from trainees through to senior leadership roles.  

Last year, Teach Portsmouth invited pupils and staff from Portsmouth's schools and colleges to take part in the My Teacher on a Postcard competition. We asked pupils to create a piece of artwork or written work on the theme of my teacher .
